Local Business Communicators Join Global Network and Form New Board.
August 31st, 2006.
Twenty-one local corporate communication and marketing professionals became members of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) this month. Known as the IABC Trinidad and Tobago Chapter, local communicators will have the content, credibility and global connections to excel in their careers.
""Essentially IABC is a learning community of professionals committed to improving the effectiveness of organisations through strategic communications. We have exciting plans for our local chapter in this, our formative year. Our main goal is to be recognised as the professional organisation of choice for communicators and brand professionals who wish to excel in their chosen fields", said Judette Coward-Puglisi of Mango Media Caribbean who serves as the Association's first chapter President.
Coward-Puglisi will be joined on the Board by other corporate communication professionals from some of the country's leading organisations. They include Maria Rivas McMillan of Guardian Holdings Ltd who will act as Executive Vice President, Giselle La Ronde-West of Angostura as VP Membership, Maria Mohammed of Kamo Designs & Productions Limited as VP Administration, Dawn Marie De Four-Gill of UWI as VP Communications, Wynell Gregorio of CLICO as VP Professional Development. Alicia Lewis from the accounting firm, Leo Alleng and Associates, will serve as the Chapter's VP of Finance.
IABC International is one of the few global organisations that offer accreditation programmes for communication professionals as well as well as cutting edge research in the area of communications and branding. "The local chapter will focus in these areas as well as pattern IABC's exceptional use of technology as a way of creating value for its members," said Dawn Marie De Four-Gill, the Chapter's VP of Communications.
The board will host its first general meeting in September.
