4th December 2006
Business communicators and journalists come together to try to understand each other better and improve the conversation between themselves.
It is an age old love-hate relationship – that between the communications and media professions. At times, a business reporter and a communicator may find themselves on a collision course: the business journalist's press story can be seen as a fire waiting to be extinguished by the communications practitioner.
Is peaceful co-existence at all possible for these symbionts? This is the question put forward by Trinidad & Tobago's International Association of Business Communicators (IABC T&T) as it hosts a Communicators meet the Business Press breakfast seminar on Thursday 7 December, 2006 at Angostura House, Eastern Main Road, Laventille from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
This moderated two-hour discussion is a direct attempt by the Association to bridge the widening gap between corporate communicators and the business media. Business editors and journalists have been invited to meet with senior communicators and executives to discuss a range of issues – from the Alcoa Smelter Plant to Ethics in the Media and more. Confirmed participants include Anthony Wilson, Julian Rogers, Nigel Cumberbatch, and Rory Rostant, among others.
